Since 2008, there has been a noticeable increase in the total number of registered dogs. In 2019, the year before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 5,072 dogs registered. This number increased to 6,147 in the following year, 2020, and further to 6,214 by 2025. The upward trend in dog registrations, particularly around 2020–2021, could be linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, as many people sought companionship during lockdowns, leading to a surge in pet adoptions.
