Reinach is a municipality in the Bezirk Arlesheim, situated at an altitude of 304 meters above sea level and covering a total surface area of 697 hectares. Table 2 summarizes the key features of the municipality, and figure 1 shows its location on the map.

As of 2024, Reinach has a population of 20,808, making it the second most populous municipality in the canton. Of these residents, 72.7 percent are Swiss citizens and 27.3 percent are foreign nationals. The population is composed of 3,503 young people aged 0 to 17, 12,226 working-age adults between 18 and 65, and 5,079 older adults over 65. The land use in Reinach is predominantly for settlement, which covers 55.6 percent of the total area. Agricultural land accounts for 26.0 percent, forests cover 16.7 percent, and unproductive surfaces make up the remaining 1.7 percent.

Reinach generates substantial tax revenue, ranking third in the canton for total tax income. The municipal tax multiplier and its specific rank among the 86 municipalities are key indicators of its fiscal policy.

In 2022, the municipality's energy consumption was led by electricity at 103,666 MWh and natural gas at 101,563 MWh, followed by heating oil at 71,354 MWh. Reinach ranks 14th in the canton for electricity consumption per capita, at 5.2 MWh per person. This places it just outside the top 10, indicating a moderate level of consumption that can be influenced by the presence of industrial activity.

The vehicle stock in Reinach, as of 2026, consists of 11,011 passenger cars and delivery vans. Of these, 9,028 are powered by combustion engines, mainly petrol or diesel, while 1,983 are electric vehicles. This means 18 percent of the local vehicle fleet is electric.
