Frenkendorf is a municipality in the Bezirk Liestal of the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Situated at an altitude of 327 meters above sea level, it covers a total surface area of 459 hectares. Table 2 summarizes the key features of the municipality, and figure 1 shows its location on the map.

The history of Frenkendorf is rich and dates back to its first documentation in 1249. Founded by an Alemannic clan led by a man named Franko, it was originally called "Frankovilare" before the name changed to Frenkendorf in 1302. The area features historical remnants including a Gallo-Roman sanctuary and the medieval castle Neu-Schauenburg from the 13th century.
