Häfelfingen has a history dating back to at least 1358. Originally part of a settlement belonging to the Counts of Frohburg, it later became part of the Homburg lordship. The bishop acquired the lordship in 1305, and by 1400, the city of Basel had taken control. As of 2025, Häfelfingen is home to 256 residents, ranking it 84th in population size within the canton. The population consists of 132 women and 124 men.
