Three new datasets have been published on the Open Data Portal of Basel-Stadt, each described in detail below.

The first dataset is titled Secondhand-Angebote / Wiederverwendungsstellen. It contains the locations of various secondhand goods in the Basel region that are either sold or given away for free. These locations can include secondhand shops, thrift stores, bookstores, public bookcases, food distribution cabinets, or electronics stores. For some locations, additional information such as telephone numbers and links to their websites is available. The dataset was published on August 10, 2026, and includes 25 records. The second dataset is titled Entsorgungsstellen. It shows the population the various disposal points for their waste and recyclables. Users also receive information on what, when, and how they can dispose of these materials. This dataset was also published on August 10, 2026, and contains 109 records. You can access it here: Open Dataset. The publisher is the Amt für Umwelt und Energie.

The third dataset is titled Staatsquote. The government expenditure ratio corresponds to the consolidated total expenditure as a percentage of the cantonal gross domestic product. The consolidated total expenditure includes expenses plus gross investments, calculated by the Federal Finance Administration. The GDP of the Canton of Basel-Stadt is calculated by the Federal Statistical Office. Both economic indicators are published with a two-year time lag. This dataset presents the government expenditure ratio for the canton without municipalities. It was published on July 17, 2026, and contains 10 records. You can access it here: Open Dataset.
