In 2019, the pre-COVID reference year, there were 5,072 registered dogs, which increased to 5,945 in the subsequent year. This upward trend continued into the reference period with 6,147 dogs. The noticeable increase in dog registrations around 2020–2021 could be linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, as many people sought companionship during lockdowns, leading to a surge in pet adoptions and registrations.
